You don't even need oven gloves.

I heat up the point of an old knife to make holes the wooden handle never gets hot  ;)

Hum... I don't think I have an old knife, a poker or a gas hob!!!

Will be looking to pot them up at the weekend though, where they are going to go I don't know - my conservatory is only diddy!!  At this rate we'll be sacraficing the dining room table for tomato plant space  :unsure:

try some of the smaller mini markets for those flower buckets. I can get them for free from my local costcutter. They just dump them outside the back door for the bin man and I help myself. (I did nip in and ask and they're ok with it.) They're also a great source of large pieces of cardboard.

Drill using a wood drill bit, these are extremely sharp and have a point in the middle, so dont slip. Also best to support the other side with a piece of wood, but you dont need this if you are delicate!

I like the idea of planting deep in a pot and "earthing up", will giv ethat a go...
