Rapeseed??
« on: June 25, 2013, 08:51 »
Just taken on an extra 13 chickens at the allotment from a previous owner, 11 hens and 2 cocks, and it seems like they have been fed a mixture of a very small amount of layers mash, and a lot of rapeseed, and I mean alot, probs 80% of their diet.

Had a look through the tinterweb, and Im not sure if I should actually be feeding them it?

Given them some layers pellets and a corn mix and the devoured it.

Any thoughts, here's one of the cocks, he's got lush colouring :)

I don't know! However it is usually recommended that their main diet be based on layers as it is a complete feed and contains everything they need, with a little mixed corn being given in the evening as a treat. The cockerel does look very well :)

It looks as if it is not good for them if you read THIS previous topic.   ;)
