we bought a log splitter about three years ago to fit on the tractor it works of the tractor hydraulics with a large hydraulic ram pushing a metal wedge into the log it cost around £500 when we bought it I fitted it to the tractor and the hydraulics packed on the tractor up so its been standing outside for around three years sheeted up waiting for me to repair the tractor hydraulics and some other things I need to do on the tractor before we can use this log splitter because unfortunately the other two tractors we have haven't got any hydraulic fittings
I don't know what type of log machine you have but being non electric it must be run by a diesel or petrol engine? if this so can't you sheet it up or make a cover for it sheeted it shouldn't be any problems so long as keeps dry as one of our tractors is stood overwinter outside battery removed and well sheeted and when I take sheet of in spring it usually starts first time
