Title: Spike The Mole Hunter
Description: This is one of my 2 Jack Russels, Spike. He and his chum Boogie try and turn my garden into a bomb site by digging for moles. This involves them excavating the entire molehill and tunnels as far as they can with much gusto. They don't seem to realise that anything in there has long gone by the time they have spent 30 minutes chucking soil everywhere.
After they have finished they sit in the conservatory waiting for the mud to dry, before racing into the house and leaving it on the carpet!

Sorry, my server kinda frowns on direct linking of images so I can only post a link to a page that shows it ( if that's not ok, feel free to remove the link ) ....
... so, on with my entry .....
it's not "exactly" a pet bee, but I can pretend it was if that allows me to enter? .... and it did stay still for ages ... and I may have accidently watered it at some point .... *angelic look*

The simple rules have confused me    or at least number 2 has:
"It can be your pet or someone elses, on an allotment or a home garden - just so long as it's a pet (even Babe who has a pet carrot). "
Does this mean they NEED to be outside, or just that they can be?
If they need to be, dare I point out that Rob's kitty (although very cute!) is indoors - unless he's hoping we'll be confused by the floral upholstery?! Or is it an outdoor sofa?!?! Not that I'm trying to get the opposition qualified at all (I don't need to - my kitty will win by miles! :D )
-
Sorry, that bit about outdoors shouldn't have been there so I've edited it out.
¥åßßå - sorry, links to a flower aren't what we're after :)
-
Thanks John, that's a relief (I've got 600-odd pics of kitty indoors, and just 3 of him outdoors! Yes, I am a crazy cat-lady - or so OH says  )
-
Can't see that wording....must have been modified especially to let me win !! :)
Although it was in a caravan in the front garden.

OK This is not an entry and won't be in the final vote but I liked it

He he he, gonna have to disappoint you there Rob!
I'm having a hard enough time just choosing a photo of my kitty - do I go for cute and adorable (which he does very well) or pure comedy (which he's also good at!) :?:
Can I run a sub-poll of "Which pic should I enter in the photo competition?" ?!?!?!
-
I'm all for just posting as many pics as possible but I think Aunt Sally might get a bit miffed !
I'm loving all the entries so far. I suppose you could post one of each and remove one after a concensus. Or is that cheating ?
Rob :)
-
It's a competition Rob, not a photo gallery ! The rules say only one entry per member so I'll be really mean and disqualify anyone with more than one.
We can have a pet photo gallery if you want. You can start one in 'Chatting on the Plot' and we'll make it a sticky !
I suppose you could post one of each and remove one after a consensus. Or is that cheating ?
Nooooo, that would be cheating in my book Rob. It would be like answering an exam question a few times and deciding which one to submit when you'd asked everyone in the exam room which they thought was the correct answer
PLEASE only one entry per person here. It took me a couple of hours to sort out the last competition for voting as a certain person (I won't say who Alex) posted loads of pictures :(
Have mercy on poor old Aunty
-
I'll be contributing soon, loads of pics of the cats
Except Dilly, the Goldfish who died last week, aged 16, buried by the pond, which contains about 30 fish, each of whom may feature in the comp.
Hey Muddi, what about some pics of Chip & Champ?

problem is you can't see chip in the photos as he just looks like a black rug- will try to get some more tonight.

Aw thanks! Everyone keeps telling me boxers are an aquired taste - most of my friends love labs and westies - though dont get me wrong I think they are gorgeous too, boxers are IMO the very best family dog you could ever get. Im so sorry you lost yours, I cant believe how upsetting it really is. We lost our 10yo boy Floyd to a brain tumour in Oct 2006, and I vowed I wouldnt get another dog - its too hard to lose them.
Then despite my vow, low and behold, Sonny turns up in June 2007!(ok we went to look JUST LOOK! at the breeders!!) He was my redundancy money reward to myself and he is my baby boy - a lunatic! but a wonderful little man :-)
We are looking at breeding them too in three of four years when I can (hopefully) get my career off to a flying start and give the OH more time at home with them - well thats the plan!
Its lovely to meet another boxer fan :D

KITT, the cat. Yes, i named a cat after a car. Isn't she cute? Here she is about to pounce on my foot probably.
Broke my heart a couple of weeks after this photo was taken, died suddenly overnight and the vet told me it was heart failure. My pew pew mew friend is now no more.
RIP KITT, my little Knightrider. Sept 2007 - Nov 2007
-
Beautiful kitten. Very sad story. :(
Rob
-
freecyclegardener - that's such a shame. We've had cats with us for 30 years nearly and so, of course, have seen them pass away. They all hurt when they leave but at least they've had a good life whilst they were with us.
wighty - so good to hear you take your pet welfare so seriously. If only everyone did. Boxers are lovely dogs, aren't they?

...after their two and half hour disappearing act at Forty Hall this morning - A hundred different pet owners were searching for them!!! They finally turned up, out of the blue, with their tails between their legs looking almost as frantic as we were - they're now back home safe and sound but oh so very contrite. Big thanks to everyone for their help.

Spike The Mole Hunter
(http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/4607/spikex640wideqg8.jpg)
This is one of my 2 Jack Russels, Spike.
-
oh what a lovely doggy. I love Russells to bits but they are gits :D I lost mine last year aged 16 and I don't think I'll ever get over it
At least now I can keep chickens :D

Spike only has one eye now. He had the other one removed last year. It was ruptured when he and Boogie (JRT) had a fight because we put the new ducklings out in their pen and the dogs got too excited and fought.
When we had to put up a temporary duck pen a couple of full grown ducks kept getting out. The dogs regularly chased them, pinned them down and pulled out mouthfuls of feathers - no casualties thankfully.

I love my DM's, had one pair for about 20 years but don't really wear them much at the moment, can't wear them to work or the lottie, they take too long to get on and off when I come back covered in mud. Used to love them for walking though.

dont they do slip on dm's or velcro ones!!!

I used to have a natty pair of (fake, obviously) tiger skin brothel creeper DM shoes, but I gave them to my neice for a fancy dress party and they were never to be seen again. It's really hard to get the veggie ones now since DM's are now made in China and some shops will no longer sell them. I've only ever seen the boots with laces

I do hope some of you are able to watch 'Tiger Island' it's about our local zoo. We can hear feeding time from our house. The vet Ian is the one who has 'dealt' with all four of our Boxers plus the various off spring that I've bred,(29 in all). Don't do it any more as don't have the time due to work commitments.

It's on ITV at 8 pm on Fridays, might only be on Meridian at the moment though as this is only the second series. Ian (the vet) is mainly dogs and horses, don't know about his chicken skills. Monkey Business started out just on Meridian.

Big congratulations to all. I voted tactically. Had to vote for Swing Swang (soft spot), knowing that Snapdragon would get plenty :D
There were about half a dozen more who could have had mine. :)

Big thank you to those of you who voted for Benny. There were so many great entries so I'm really pleased that he made it to the top three.
And big congratulations to Snap Dragon and Swing Swang :D :D

I think all the entries were fantastic. Well done all, you have lovely pets.

Congratulations! Three S's indeed. Well done Snap, Swing & Sweet. Enjoy the peas, DD probably has given them strict instructions to grow with unchained abandon. Another bushel of good luck growing them.

Congrats to all the entrants.
I've PM'ed snapdragon to arrange the delivery of the prize!

Thank you for all of your votes.
Sal - user names are such difficult things to come up with, but a few years ago I used to walk down a Swing Swang Lane on the way to work. The street sign always used to make me smile, so I filed it to memory and thought that it would come in handy for something.
I've tried to find out what it actually means, but have drawn a blank, so if anyone is any the wiser...
Regards,
Swing Swang
