How knowledgeable are Garden Centre staff these days?

Standard wooden seed trays usually held 48 plants, 1/3d a dozen and 4/- shillngs a tray, always watered twice a day. Full time work 1962.

48 ... yes, I beleive you're right.
And I used to water them in the shop back yard
