Paw hurts...
« on: June 12, 2011, 05:32 »
Every year, about this time, our Jack Russell gets something between her middle two toes on either of her front paws. It doesn't bleed, but swells up a little, and occasionally she holds it out for sympathy. She licks it more than somewhat too.

We were told by the vet that it was possibly new grass either causing a burn or a cut, but has anyone else seen this? It goes after about a week, and is then forgotten!

That was my first thought too. As long as it clears up quickly it should be ok, with a bathe in salt water if you see a grass cut.  But if the swelling continues I would suspect a grass seed embedded, and that can be quite nasty. :)

my brother dog used to suffer from new grass causing burns on his stomach.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Many thanks folks, it does seem to be a graze or maybe a small scrape/cut. She's now giving it just the odd lick, and then gets on with terrorising everyone who come within five miles of the front door...
