Evil rabbit
« on: November 06, 2010, 15:31 »
Hi,
i have had my rabbit Beano for about 8 months now and she has known me all her life. But now she has started attacking me and won't let me brush her or trim her nails. She won't let me touch her sides or anything, just her head.  So how can i make her feel more comfterble around me?

Its probably now she has grown up she is taking charge and being the leader of you instead of the other way arround. Be confident around her when handling and  offer tit bits by hand.  Hormones could be to blame too so a chat with the vet to see if spaying would calm it down may help although expensive.  When you have hold of her for nail clipping I found it good to sit it on my lap and tip it upside down so its laying full length on its back. They go into a trance and will let you inspect them and trim nails etc. They may kick and struggle but bare with it. My feeling is that its a dominance thing so be positive in your handling and she will or should submit in the end.  Good luck with it as it will not be rectified over night.

rabbits are like that - they need constant handling to be properly cuddly.  It might help to trim her nails so she doesnt scratch too much, but of course you have to get her to sit still while you trim the nails! A 2 person job for sure.  Lots of petting and treats and she'll be putty in your hands :)

Is this the same rabbit that you now think it is pregnant?
