It's potassium (potash), the "K" value on the fertiliser.

many thanks for that info, the bed can't be short of 'K' because that's where I dump the ash from my bonfires!  I think a fresh influx of plants next year.

Strawbs do need replacing after 3-4 years and I don't think they like being re-planted in the same bed unless it's had a good overhaul.

we have just ripped up all our strawberries and fruit bushes time to start all over again because both plots where getting tired and messy even though we pulled up both plots with my tractor the bushes and old strawberry bed took some cultivating although we did feed both plots prior to picking with a potash based feed

so we will be moving both to a new clean and cultivated location when its planting time and feed as needed ready for next season

Hello if your strawberry plants have runners on take cuttings place a plant pot of compost next to each plant and place runners in each one and leave to root new plants in a few weeks and no expense  jezza
