ant chutney
« on: January 18, 2010, 21:47 »
Just seen a recipe from India that had had half ants' eggs, half red ants, bit of chilli, bit of garlic, and some boiled egg all ground up together

Thought someone might want to try it next time there is surplus of ants

You grind them up on either a stone or with a pestle & mortar

I do not like ants ::) they are creepy.

I shouldn't have watched that film when I was little when they wiped out the whole farmstead. (seem to remember Charlton Heston was in it?) Still makes me shudder when I think about it

Eeeeeeeewwwwwww!  :tongue2: I can't think of anything much worse than eating ants. I had an experience with them on a school trip to Italy, where we were in a newly built hotel and the wardrobe in the room was full of them and they got in my luggage, in the bed, everywhere.........    :tongue2:, so I don't like ants either.  :(

(dons penants cap)
they're crustaceans which isn't quite the same thing...
fried woodlouse (which are also crustaceans) are supposed to taste shrimpy...
