No sorry,  I'm an night owl - but sometimes the moon does look just stunning/magical, whenever you happen to see it. I can totally understand why ancient people were fascinated by it  ;)

Yes, it was beautiful and Venus (I think) was also shining very brightly on this winter morning.

A few years ago, I bought a telescope from our charity shop for a few pounds.

The first night was bitterly cold, but I set it up in the conservatory, which is south-facing, and got the shock of my life to see the moon in such detail!

Of course, being an amateur, I had to contend with the dear old moon which kept moving out of view (it does that), and my teeth began to chatter, they eyes misted over with the cold, and the whole mission was abandoned after those few magical minutes!

Eventually, I gave it to a chum, and I think he's still trying to get it to work with one of his cameras...

But that gorgeous glimpse was all I really needed...

Sorry babes, it wasn't me mooning that you saw (BTW, which end of the telescope did you use?). It was the Chinese secretly preparing for this:

If you enlarge this translation (秘密月亮任务) it looks like saying: "What the f**k? I told you we should have gone during the day"

As we're adverse to most Winalot/Chappie eateries, Goosey, I read that as numbers 5, 12, 34 and a glass of some sort of  sugary drink, normally sold by the roadside!

Now, as the moon is made of cheese, the real question is 'Wensleydale or Cheddar'!

Now do you understand the meaning of Astroturf? (the study of grass or stars).

I was a bit lucky when I went outside last night to see a shooting star. Ths would have been one of the early ones of the Geminids shower that peaks in about 4 days time.  The best time to see them is after midnight and in 4 days or so time the moon will have set by then, giving the chance of a better view.

However, the weather forecast is, of course, cloudy!
