Been looking through old posts noticed you put garlic powder in feed, how much do you add? What name does it go by?
upon opening my back door it smells a bit like a farm, think the rain over the past few days hasnt helped either, i think its the ground that holds the smell, cos their house isnt smelly

Hi Chelle,  I use the garlic powder that is sold for horses.  You can buy a great big tub of it at the horsey shop quite cheaply.  I add about a teaspoon full to about a pound of layers pellets.  It really help a lot.

If the hens run smells you can sprinkle it with garden lime and dig it over.  That should sweeten it  :D

Hope that helps  :!:

I read somewhere that you can put a clove of garlic in their water. Has anyone tried this?  It's a bit easier to get hold of, but do you think it would work the same?

Some people I know do that but frequently the garlic gets swallowed whole     I'm not sure what effect this has on the eggs     Garlic powder from horse supply shops is a much cheaper option.  Unless you're planning on growing loads I guess  :!:

Well, it could give the eggs a nice Italian flavour, but definately NOT worth the risk. Thanks.
