Can I plant leftover onion tiddlers?
« on: September 09, 2009, 11:44 »
I have about 100 small onions/shallots that weren't big enough to bother keeping/storing. Can I replant them? Will they do anything or should I just  shut my eyes and chuck them on the compost? Any advice would be appreciated
The less time you have, the more becomes available.

These onions wont grow in the cold - you'll need japanese onions for overwintering.
If they are smallies leftover from your crop, try pickling them

You can replant the shallots. Not sure about the best time though - guessing - i would think in a couple of months time

All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Onions will just run to seed.

If they were spring planted shallotts, you should wait until spring.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
