I know how much you all love pics, so I will let the pictures tell the tale :tongue2:
This is what I had to tackle, behind the foxgloves... a mass of dead holly branches, weeds, grass and gravel.

A pile of weed... no idea what to do with them!

All weeds removed, cardboard down, just need to grab some wood from the people across the road!

Seedlings all waiting to be put into the raised bed.

Looks good - the sweetcorn are a bit close together but so are mine
-
Some of us have to make do with what space we have :D
-
Cute variety of kiddy you're growing there, Riala ;)
-
*giggle* Thank you hun!
-
What a loverly little chappie, looks so at home after the upheavel of a move.
-
He does seemed to have really settled in the new house, goes to bed by himself (when awake!) and sleeps right through from 9pm till 9am, which is fantastic.
His eating is getting better too, and he loves helping in the garden... even if that does mean the occasional bee gets a little squeeze when inside a foxglove! :nowink:
-
Is that timber treated in any way? I'm getting an idea that might get around the wife 'no veg in garden' ban ;)
-
I think... it was this wood (http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9276023&fh_reftheme=promo_159030093%2cseeall%2c%2f%2fcatalog01%2fen_GB%2fcategories%3C{9372016}%2fcategories%3C{9372053}%2fcategories%3C{9372280}&fh_view_size=10&fh_sort_order=1&fh_sort_by=_price_rrp_min&fh_location=%2f%2fcatalog01%2fen_GB%2fcategories%3C{9372016}%2fcategories%3C{9372053}%2fcategories%3C{9372280}%2fcategories%3C{9392123}&fh_eds=%C3%9F&fh_refview=lister&ts=1247497893485&isSearch=false) from B&Q... I am almost positive it was.
We live in a rental property, so we are not allowed to dig in the garden, but we found an empty bit of soil at the end of the garden, and we were allowed to build our raised bed directly on to the soil.
best thing is, I have marigolds in there as well, so it will still be nice and colourful!
-
To add:
We also started out in tubs and containers, as our previous rental was a paved yard.
We have a plot now, but it is in a sorry state, although I am desperate to get it fully prepared for next year.
-
very nice that wood loks like its pressure treated to me
But thats just my opinion
-
I hope the neighbours don't have any cats. ;)
-
I have seen two, but I have ALL my cat deterrents with me!
