Return of the Christmas spuds...
« on: May 10, 2009, 16:17 »
Oh dear. Obviously didn't dig up all the Christmas potatoes, because I've just noticed haulms coming through. This is where the courgettes were going to go, so plans all awry now. Should I leave the spuds in? They'll be like second generation seed potatoes. The variety was Carlingford.

Any thoughts?

Basically it's up to you .........leave em in for more spuds (as long as you weren't blighted last year ) or dig em up and plant your courgettes.

I found a small handful of tiny spuds in the greenhouse border when I was sorting out in there ready for the toms --- must've been from two years ago as that was when I last did first earlies inside  ::)

I usually just pull them up and throw away but when my mum was helping she dug up a stray one and replanted it with this year's - it's doing fine.

Oooh Rachael, that's an idea, I've got a couple coming up, may replant them as my cabbages are going in that spot!
