Lawn problem
« on: July 20, 2009, 23:58 »
I have a problem with my new lawn which was grown from seed earlier this year. Having read about problems with lawns, I am 99% certain the problem is 'Dollar Spot'. It is basically a fungus that, as well as certain things I need to do with the lawn, has to be treated with either Benomyl, Carbendazim or Thiophanate-methyl. The problem I have is that I can't find any of these products about and am not sure where to find them. Does anybody know where I could get any of these products.

  Thanks Dave.

Where did you get the information about these products from, Dave?

I cannot find any of these active ingredients on the Pesticides Database, and the RHS withdrawn chemicals page indicates that carbendazim was withdrawn 6 years ago and thio... about 4 years ago.

I would imagine that benomyl has also been withdrawn as it's not on the PSD database.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

These chemicals / products, were banned about 12 years ago. Don`t know what you could use now.

I got the info from the RHS Encyclopedia of Gardening, I think it must be a few years old if the chemicals have been banned for that long.

Here's the RHS page on fungal turf problems.

It says that dollar spot is often mentioned in books but very rarely seen by their advisory service.

Not sure whether any of the other advice on there is of any use, though
