my boots also have a steel plate in the sole for extra protection.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Chainsaw wellies or "spats" are considerably cheaper than the boots seeing as you won't be working off the ground.
I've no intention of doing much beyond chopping logs up.

The thought of trying to control a chainsaw on a ladder makes me shiver.

I hate to add extra expense to your kit, but you really need chainsaw boots as well. If you catch yourself, it will be more likely be the side or top of your foot , not the toes, so steelies won't protect you.  Sorry  :(

Has the helmet got ear defenders?  You will need them  :)

Oh curses!!

My saw is electric and a lot quieter than petrol so usually I've just got the radio on headphones but the helmet does have defenders which are great with the petrol strimmer. I think my hearing never quite recovered from sitting by the stacks at a rock concert anyway :)

When my pal took down the ash tree in the walled garden he went up and cut off a number of branches before hitting the main trunk. So a tall tree in a confined space without touching the walls.

I don't think he'd have had it stuck in the tree next door :)

I made the tea!
