ok hubby got me a round topiary from work its just a small one bought for just under 3 pounds , its abit neglected hence the price he said it was crushed in with the others so its abit stringy , should i just leave it alone till next year i dont think it will be doing much growing now

I would just re-pot it with some added bonemeal to help its roots to get established, then leave until next spring when it starts putting out new shoots. I presume it is a box plant, and they do recover well from hard pruning.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

yes i think its box has smallish leaves its in abou t 10 inch pot
