I have incubated 7 light Sussex chick 2 were infertile at 10 days and removed them the other 5 incubated perfectly unfortunately 1 didn't make it at hatching so was left with 4 healthy chicks every thing is been sterilised and all bedding is clean but every day since they have hatch 1 has died mid afternoon help I only have one left what's going wrong?

Please help suggestions great fully received

Hi i have been hatching also been hatching eggs and i went on the net and read up before hand, as i recall the only thing i can think of is food or heat problem  there are a few breeders on here including moderaters who will be able to help you more. hope you get it sorted i now how distresing it is to loose them

It's hard to say from your post Tom.  Like Tony said the main problems are food and heat.  Were they too warm or not warm enough?  Did your brooder have a temp and humidity meter?  Were the chicks always sitting close together under the heat lamp, which means they were too cold, or were they trying to keep away from it, meaning the brooder was too warm.

Were they eating and drinking okay?  Did any of them have messy bums? If a chick gets a pooey bottom and it dries.  It stops more poo from coming out and that can kill them too.

Any signs of blood from their vents?  That could indicate coccidiosis.

also besides what Grannie has said if it is cocci you may not see the blood in the pooh as they will all eat it up pretty quickly. You need to watch them pooing to keep an eye on that.
Where did you get the eggs from? They could have come from poor infected stock.
