I taught my dog good maners, right from a pup.
Before he eats any food he has to wait until he is told "ok".
Before he eats anything out of my hands, he has to sit and look away from the food, as a sign of respect.
So presumably the next step is eating AT the table?

my dog Casper has impeccable table manners, unfortunatley it's not always his dinner he's helping himself to, once when the kids were little i left their sausages and mash and beans on the table while i went to shout for them, when i turned back he'd nabbed all the sausages from the plates without disturbing the mash and beans

Well, I was amazed, as I've never met a setter who's not a nutter 
What's he like with the ducks? Our Bruce follows me into the duck pen only to be attacked by Caspar, much to his dismay
