John Seymour mentions it in his self sufficiency book.  We've spent the last 2 years looking for some clapiers (rabbit tennement blocks) to do just that but no luck yet.

Our local Co op has several books about breeding rabbits for food but it depends how good your french is.

I've got a reprint of the penguin handbook "Keeping Poultry and Rabbits on Scraps".
ISBN 978-0-141-03862-9.
Quite interesting.
"Keeping Poultry and Rabbits on Scraps was originally re-issued in this charming edition after the war, in 1949. Here it is once again, a facsimile edition with all the delightful original illustrations and advice to keep your chickens and rabbits happy, whether they are in acity garden or roaming in a farmyard"

I got it from Ebay, I think or maybe Amazon  :)

Small holders manual by Katie Thear has a section on rabbits.
can be found on amazon or try your local library  :)

I found a book called 'Rabbit Keeping' by C.F Snow published in 1951, but went through loads of reprints (mine is from 1972). It was published as 'A Foyles Handbook'. I found it in Scotland on holiday at Wigtown. It says at the front: 'This is a handy, practical guide for all who keep or intend to keep rabbits for meat and fur.' I've found it ideal and recommend it. Try searching for it on amazon or ebay.
Hope you can find a copy.

Thanks for that word ;-)  I would like to keep meat rabbits, but I need a really great self cleaning housing system and I haven't seen anything that ticks all my boxes just yet.

Cheers

 :)
