Popped into Homebase today to find Battery powered 14.4v Bosch strimmers going for £25 quid.  Helped myself to one to keep down the grass on the allotment as we are not allowed to store petrol and ground is quite uneven so no good for pushalong mower.

They had some by another brand for £19.99 too

I hope that you have better luck with it than I've had with one that a kindly friend bought me as a present.
I've never managed to get it to run for more than 10 minutes on a full charge.
Its long been consigned to the cobwebbed area in the back of the shed.

I bought a Spear & Jackson 18v cordless strimmer last summer for £25, it works really well, a charge lasting long enough to trimm all the paths etc on my plot.  Getting a petrol one now though as i have another plot to look after as well and need something 'heavier'.
