Very wise Looby. The coop can get very hot with a lot of bodies in there. It's amazing how much heat they generate.

i did get the windows of the shed covered with wire mesh the wekend and i can slot out the plastic thats already there with ease so i am hoping they wont be getting roasted in there during the winter months .

I've discovered that the lawn rake is effective for removing poo of the grass. Nice pile put on the compost heap this evening then watered the lawn where their run is.
Need to shift it over soon.

My run has been a lot better now we have a roof on it.  I haven't noticed the flies in the run but the other day there was a lovely caecal poo on the lawn and a case of how many flies could get on there!!  I hate flies :tongue2:  I tried the red top fly catcher last year and Never Again  errrrrrr the smell is horrendous, we couldn't really get it far enough away YUK  We just thought it attracted them, as the flies came to the trap they probably thought ooooo there are some lovely chicken poos over there lets go and look ???  I always poo pick everyday, will keep using Stalosan to rid the eggs and will get some citronella oil and dot it about the coop/run.
