I had some chilli seedlings growing quite nicely and several were getting quite large with thei secondary leaves out. I decided to transfer them to their pots, which I did very carefully. However, after about an hour they have all keeled over???

Never having grown from seed before is this normal and will they pick up?  Or have they had it now

As long as you didn't damage either the roots, or (especially) squash the stems they should recover OK - it's not that unusual for bare-root seedlings to wilt after transplanting, but don't add to their distress by putting them somewhere much colder or draughtier than they were before.

That's a relief. They've gone back on the same windowsill they were on before. I did transplant them outside so maybe the cold wind hasn't helped either.  I have covered them with a large clear plastic bag, not sealed to help warm them slightly.
