One of the bantams that my children got for their birthday in August laid her first egg for us today. She was making an almighty row when I went to give them their breakfast this morning so I checked the nest box just in case. There was a perfect little egg there. I had to share with you all because apart from the children, no one else understands my excitement.

Big boy (6) said it should be boiled. He's never eaten a boiled egg in his life though and if this is what makes him eat eggs, he can have it all to himself. With any luck, she'll lay another one tomorrow and baby girl (2) can have that one.
