Hello we are new to site we keep ornamental pheasants and partridges.  At auction last night I feel in love with qt of Fawn Italian Japanese Quail which are now sitting in my conservatory waiting to be put into their new temporary run.

I do not know the first thing about quail so would appreciate any tips on feed, if they like to sit on a perch, what treats they like, and everything thing else I need to know.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Jan, welcome to the site,

I'm afraid I don't know much about quail, except they used to wander about our garden in our last house.  We are more into chickens and turkeys, for meat and eggs.

But there'll be someone on here who knows a bit.

Have you joined the Smallholder magazine forum yet?  There's always an expert on there about something!!!!

We keep Silkie Bantams and Ducks, and we have just got an incubator, and I have ordered some Quail eggs.
