My Strawbs are still flowering!!!

My strawberries are in various stages... there are flowers, green fruit and red fruit dotted amongst all of them!!

What do I do with them? When are they meant to stop flowering/fruiting (and before you ask.. I don't know what variety they are but have been producing fruit since June.   )

Should I just cut them all back now or leave them till the frosts?

Forever bearers then, it's normal. You can leave them a bit for the few fruit, just in case we get some mild weeks. Or cut them down, as you like. They shall do this in winter too though, whenever light and temps are there they sport some flowers.

Bargain Strawberries then!

I got them cheap at an outlet gardening centre and only put them in this year but they've worked really hard and produced lots of really tasty fruit!

One of my better buys then!  :D

My strawberries are the same flowers, green and red fruit they seem to be going on forever. When you cut them back do you cut them right off, right to the ground as I have never done that before and alway lost my plants in the past and would really like to keep these going next year?

You can cut them down as in mowing the lawn or not and just loose dead foliage, it's up to you. Why they died in the past must have some other reason hidden in mystery.

Make sure the crowns are not burried for one thing. 8)

I gave mine a big haircut today and cleared out all the old shredded paper around them ( I didn't have any straw). I moved some of the runners and put the rest on the compost heap. Got rid of the weeds - so we're all ready for next year.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
