:D   Hi All,
I have a lot of comfrey around my plot. I soak a load in a drum to use as a feed. But am i able to just cut it down and lay it on the beds and cover it with a carpet and leave it for the winter.  Michael D

In a word yes, never tried it but I've seen it done in a chase organics book.

I do this at home with a huge leafed variety. Just take off whole branches and lay them around the plants I want to feed.  It will be good for the soil so I'd do it.  Seems a shame to waste it. It makes a good compost activator too

I do what compostqueen does too and sometimes take off whole branches of comfrey and lay them along between the veg rows, then the comfrey rots down gradually as you water your plants.  I also lay some underneath my runner beans when I plant them, or lay them across the compost bins or make liquid feed with them.  Depends on what mood I'm in!!!!! lol

I wouldn't use a carpet if you have anything else to cover the space with.  It leaches chemicals into the soil, is a nightmare to dispose of afterwards, breaks down into lots of bits, and weeds can grow through it.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
