After the last year of keeping our distance, I am looking forward to enjoying some alfresco dining down on the plot. I have been thinking about attempting some smoked meat/poultry. (it is okay, we are not allowed to keep chickens on the site, so we won't be terrorising any caged birds!)

There are several videos on YouTube, mainly from across the pond, using a kettle BBQ. Has anyone here tried this? Looks fairly simple. We are fairly proficient cooks and have good portable cooking facilities, but have never attempted smoking before.

Any recipe suggestions would also be appreciated.

Ralph.

I need more space...

I bought a cold smoker and used it for smoking chillies, trout, and sausages.

I built the box for smoking out of plywood and it worked a treat, still use it now. I tend to smoke more in the colder months, never tried hot smoking although next door does and some of the stuff I have tried has been tasty.
