this i have to agree with entirely. mine were not showing on the kitchen windowsill after nearly 2 weeks, so I covered them with upturned supermarket meat tray as suggested, dry, on the South facing front windowsill, in full  sun today.  On return, nearly all have popped there little heads up!

Be careful putting them in the dark, cause it takes them a couple of days to realise they are back in light and they can get quite leggy by then.... I had mine in the hotpress for 48 hours and it seemed to do the trick.

Cheers

 :)
Best Regards,

The Alicante which I thought had died are finally showing their faces!

Thanks for the tip about being in the dark - today is nice and warm so I will get these new ones in the polytunnel.

Haven't started mine yet as cold, can't bring em in the house as no room.  Going to plant all mine up this weekend, along with cucumbers, peppers, melon, squash, courgettes, sweetcorn  :)

I planted some sweetpeas about a month ago and it was too cold, they just rotted so will start those again.

Trying to be philosphical and after last year I'll just be glad for one tomato plant to survive!  Gone for some odd varieties in the probably vain hope that that'll make a difference this time round!

Well, I find being under soil is proving dark enough, about 99.9%. 8)

I don't know what you folks are doing. Over confusing the issue most likely.
