Check the ants haven't already got into the pots, you may have taken them to the new position that way.

I'd buy some Nippon ant bait and hopefully kill them all off.

I was going to suggest some puffs of ant powder, but Nippon would do the job too

You could also try Ant Bait Stations (pack of 2), the ants go in them and get ant killer on them and take it back to the nest and infect the rest of the colony. They're great, I use them in the poly tunnel and if there's a nest in a veggie bed. Outside I just put a bit of broken pot over them so they don't get too wet, then forget about it - no need to re-apply powder.

I Have ants in three or four places on my allotment and a nest in the compost bin. so not seen any reason not to keep them and the soil I got out of the compost bin was better than worm compost.
the robin likes the eggs when they get dug up. so I would think they are beneficial and not baddies.

I'll beat this heavy clay yet. now almost there works well now

They really aren't helpful if they take up residence in pots or trays of seedlings, though.  :(

They also farm the Aphids and will attack Ladybirds to stop them eating the blackfly so a far from a best friend.
