I planted two lovage plants last year, for the first time.
They grew well, but they died back over the winter.
I think that it is a hardy perennial, but there are no signs of any shoots, so far this year.
Do I just need to be more patient?

My lovage plant is shooting already but maybe it is colder where you are so I would wait. But if you do not see any shoots by April it has probably died. But normally lovage is quite hardy and I have never protected it in winter.

I'm sure they'll come up. Mine haven't shown face yet and I'm around the same latitude as you, so there's time yet..

Mine have not shown yet either, but they came back happily after last years cold winter so I think they will be okay this year. :)

Thanks to all of your for the replies, and the promising information that they may be OK.
I need to move one of these plants soon, so I'll take a good look at the roots, and report back!
