Gladioli left in the garden over winter
« on: March 04, 2012, 11:46 »
Hi

we have some gladioli which have never been brought in over winter and are now starting to sprout again but i would like to move them and separate them as they have grown into a big ring and the tubers (if thats what they are called ) which are starting to sprout are laying horizontal and the leaves are growing vertically out of them x can i move them or should i do it next year after bringing them in x and if i can do them now do the tubers get put into the soil vertically x i've trawled the internet but everything ive found is about bringing them in in the Autumn x

thank you

I'm sure they'll be fine if you move them, as it's about this time of year you plant them.

The "tubers" are called "corms". The original will die each year, produce a new one and also produce the offsets which will form a ring which you describe.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Sounds like they like the spot you gave them so choose another one the same for your replanting  :D :D
