I have found recently getting involved with tv or the computer that I look up and suddenly see how dark it is (getting old and memory going obviously), before sprinting down the garden to lock the girls away.
Had a brainwave the other night and decided to use a small alarm clock set for 5pm, and when that goes off in the kitchen it alerts me to sort them out, regardless of what I am doing at the time. I can change the time as the days lengthen or shorten so far its working well. Anyone else got any tips about this ::)

Ah but my problem would be remembering to set the alarm clock in the first place,,,he he he.

you could set an alarm on your mobile phone that's what i tend to do if i have something really important to remember

OH told me off last night because I called the poots into the coop just after 4 >:(
I pointed out the bantams and big girls had gone in and was told he prefers his girls to go in when they wanted >:(
What he really meant was he likes to spend time spoiling them when he gets in from school ::)
And when did they become his poots, I might ask >:(
-
my OH loves our poots as well and will often feed them extra treats and have them sitting in his hands - yet the other girls whilst he likes them don't have the same effect on him.

I've got one like that too!! He has got his rabbits, I've got my girls. But I get up in the morning to let them out and he has already done it cos he likes to see them falling over each other to get out and make a fuss all over him. I get back from work and they have been fed meal worms!! Have said they are a special treat - "Oh I cant help it and they like them" is the reply.

My Big Girls put themselves to bed each night and I have just remember to close the door.
The 2 Bantams on the other hand...If I dont get out there to round them up, then its into the Elder tree and I have to get down and into their coop...after 2 months you'd think they would learn >:(

Hi chickadee good idea about the alarm on my mobile, now where did I put the ruddy thing  alison

I always forget too ... lucking my daughter in red hot and yells 'chicken alert' as soon as it's dark! Maybe I could hire our her services :)

My girls put themselves away, but they just can't seem to get the hang of shutting the door behind them! lol :D

Send her round Haychee sounds like her memory is a lot better than mine. Just sqwelched my way down to the girls and have a dozen drowned rats in my coop, where did all my lovely fluffy bummed girls go !

I know, isnt it grotty at the mo. I have made a second little run for my girls, under the trampoline, and they love it under there at the mo as it stays much dryer than their regular run. I reckon that come summer it'll be great too as the tramp will provide shade for them.
