Keeping ducks - How do you keep yours

Do they need to be kept in a run when you are not around or are they fine to wander free during the day.  (was thinking of Aylesburys)

Hi Debz

As with all poultry, ducks will need protection from Foxes :)

Ive got 3 Aylesburys, there massive and clumsy.

They are in 50m of electric fencing when we are not around. I couldnt imagine them ever taking off the ground to get away from any predators.

Ours have full run of the garden.  Although 3 got eaten by the fox NOV I can't bear the thought of them being penned in.   Don't get me wrong I do worry about them and wonder if they will be there when I come home from work but..........I had ducks to be free so it's a chance I take.
Aylesburys are big birds what do you want them that big for???  Only asking not ment to be funny or rude?????

My ducks are mainly kept in a large electrified area, saying that unbelievably they have learnt to turn sideways and slip through the end of the fencing where the netting is connected, they are slim anyway being runners, I think though I have particulary naughty ducks! :D
