An early Christmas present, and a very welcome one!
A bramley apple on a MM106 root stock, duly planted and staked. I'd like a nice eater too but the ferals climb the wire as soon as they turn red!

That certainly looks like a nice Bramley, I bought a couple of 'Bramley Cooking' Apples trees from Aldi this spring and duly planted them. They flowered and both set fruit, although only one apple to maturity, at which point it turned red with distint ridges. I tried it and it was very sweet, I suspect it was Gala. My dad bought the same from a different brach of Aldi and he has got a Gala as well. Anyone else found this?

Are there any other apples in the area, because Bramley is what`s called a triploid, This means it needs 2 other apple varities from the same pollination group to produce fruit. The commonest pollinaters are Cox`s Orange Pippin and James Grieve.

Yes, quite a few trees very close of suitable varieties. And there is a bramley on the plot that produces an abundance of fruit!
