What person in a fit of madness decided that tapioca was a) edible and b) a good thing to feed to children at school dinners? Was it the same person who decided to defrost bottles of milk on top of the school radiators? Bleeugghh? Or the person who handed out codliver oil and malt? How did we survive, I wonder?

I had apple pie with a thick sticky toffee topping once in a cafe.  It was absolutely gorgeous but I've never been able to make it the same.  Wondering if this would work?  I make sticky toffee pudding but mine has a runny pour on sauce. 

By the way, I started my diet today.

Ooooohhhh cod liver oil & malt - my mum used to keep it on the floor of the pantry - i can still taste it now - I was a "prem" baby so was religiously fed it until i got a little tooo well developed IYKWIM
