pulled the little overwintered turnips, dug over the bed, then i moved onto my new bed, dug that and raked it, all i need to do now is to buy some wood to make a raised bed.

Not on the plot today but at home, starting to sort out the garden. Dug over 2 borders and an island bed at the front of the house. Then cleaned out my little greenhouse and finally pulled up the geraniums from last year.  As the back garden is so sheltered the geraniums kept on flowering until the sudden cold snap a couple of weeks ago.

Started work on the ground where the greenhouse will go, roughly digging about a third of it with my trusty azada. Had a rest, shared a clementine with the baby and then trimmed another 3ft of the tall weeds.

dug over 2m by 2m square, pruned the hydrangea and fushia (i'll use the fushia twigs as pea sticks), the compost bin was full to the brim so i decided to take out some of the 'black gold' from the bottom, them i planted 2 little rhubarb cromns that i bought from morrisons at £1 each.

Today I bought for the plot:

Cosmos seeds (Antiquity - loads of flowers)
Lavender seeds (Lady - first year flowering)
Tagetes seeds (Golden Gem)
Foxglove seeds (Candy Mountain - upward facing blooms)
Chives seeds

12 Liatris Spicata (Gay feathers)
40 Allium Oreophilum
35 Allium Sphaerecephalon
20 Anemone De Caen
2 Echinacea p. White Swan

I also got 3 unknown Dahlia roots free from freegle

That lot should bring in the pollinators  :D

Not really on the plot , I know but definitely for the plot

Dug a patch measuring 6ft x 8ft which had jerusalem artichokes (i'm getting fed up of these veggies as they've been a nightmare digging out).

Just got the remainder of 8ft x 8ft on 5th plot which measures 16ft x 16ft!
A novice gardener and looking forward to getting seriously fit with my allotment!

The allotment is 16 ft wide and roughly 90 ft long split into 8 plots!

(Yesterday) I chucked some dried chicken manure onto the asparagus bed and the raspberries and then mulched with spent compost from last year's tomato bags.

Planted 3 dozen shallots (Mikor and Golden Gourmet saved from last year), also with a scattering of dried chicken manure, then chucked some net over them to put off any birds who might want to have fun pulling them out again (and also any foxes who have managed to forget what chicken poo tastes like!)  :)

Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

(Yesterday) planted another 100 broad beans and some shallots - mainly "Red Sun" from last year. Some rain today so will probably give it a miss. There's leek seeds to be getting on with.

So far this year:

Built a deep asparagus bed.
Strengthened the compost bins I made last year after they started to splay outwards when filled with manure.
Burned the remains of the willow trees dug out of the plot last year.
Burned all the rotten timber found around the plot since I took it over last year.
Dug out the raspberry plants that were invading the growing beds.
