I'm going to have to brave it, we're running out of harvested veg at home and with PSB, carrots, parsnips, swede & sprouts on the plot, I'm not going to Tesc*!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Good for you DD - a quick nip out and in again!!  :)

I brought home carrots, leeks and PSB as well as a smile and cold fingers.  ;)

Took a car load of spent compost to the plot that I found flytipped in a gateway on a country lane. This is exactly the same stuff that I found in an adjoining gateway a year ago. Obviously the same person, thanks very much. I shall be checking the same road in twelve months. Now I just need to go back and bag up the rest before someone else spots it.

Picked some purple sprouting, dug unprotected carrots and parsnips.

Aquadulce broad beans look like they`ve had it, the stems have gone black.

Observed one old boy, at least 70 years, attempting to rotavate his plot. What is the obsession on our site with rotavating during the winter?

Did you have any "unusual plants" growing in it? I was just wondering what sort of person might be wanting to get rid of some compost.

Went down and fetched all the stored spuds left in the shed, home to sort. The plot was three inches deep in snow with deer and rabbit racks all over - chuffed they've left the PSB alone though. Roll on Spring!!

Picked up my new 'second hand' greenhouse today, it's sitting in the backyard until we get a couple of reasonable days before I try and put it up on the allotment.

Took delivery of a new shed at 07:00 - and they put it up (in half light in 2" of snow, bless 'em!)

Did you have any "unusual plants" growing in it? I was just wondering what sort of person might be wanting to get rid of some compost.

Whatever plants there were started off life in net jiffy blocks and he even threw away the clay peas used for drainage. The compost is perfect as a soil improver.

They'd be the same Jiffy blocks used in Hydroponic growing setups. Obviously you're going to be weeding regularly to protect your own crops, just don't get tempted to see what might grow from any apparent 'weeds' as you may get a visit from the local plod!

Ah lovely day - a bit cold, but I got to the 2 plots today - in the garden, I had a few uckets, some with old apples, some with cuttings for composting. all had got waterlogged, but had frozen - what better time to transport them to the plot. so in the back of the car and off to the plot - duly emptied into the compost bins - ice and all.
a look around the plot, and the sprouting broccoli had had it, so I dropped the netting over it, and pulled up the remains. after that I still had some time so I popped over to the other plot - its still under a blanket of snow, but the broccoli may have survived, as have the leeks, and a couple of the garlic are sprouting through the snow.
anyway met a few hardy souls also just visiting or just digging some veg.
first time to the plot for a good while, but still not a lot needing doing.
