All this fetish about autumn planting of garlic and them needing icy temperatures has me beat. I've just started 48 in the greenhouse in fibre pots as per usual and will plant them out with the onion sets in March. I expect the same good yields that I always get from a mixture of cloves of both soft and hard necked bulbs saved from last year's harvest

So DD, did you plant your garlic straight into the ground or did you plant in pots as AlaninClarlisle did?

straight in...oh ok...and as for the raspberries.......you were so kind but ll, a few died I'm afraid, and three took the hump as soon as they moved onto the allotment! But,great  flavour...adn I've got to plant some more, because I 've made the most gorgeous raspberry gin this year...and have  already decided to make much more next year!

They should spread out this year, my 32' hedge started as 6 twigs planted at the wrong time of year!

Dug up a couple of parsnips and leek. Emptied second compost bay onto beds. Will spread it all out after a cuppa and then rotavate it in next week. Getting psyched up to open up and dig over another part of the field for black, red and white currants plus gooseberries. Decided to plant them on the lee-side of the polytunnel

As it's been a beautiful sunny day so been to the lottie.  I managed to put weed suppressant down and bark chippings on the new path. It looks a lot better. I was going to dig the main bed over but it's still to wet.

All finished final cost about 250 quid, because I get the PVC windows and doors from a mate and I already had 3 8'x4' sheets of 18mm ply for the roof.
I'm going to fit a shelf under the window to put some seeds on, and with the help from the pot belly stove  get some early toms :)
