A couple of hours of weeding, tomato maintenance, lifting spuds - and planting courgettes in the area vacated - then picking broad beans, peas and some salad. Also planted some replacement salad.

Much more weeding still needed - I wonder how much a ton I could get for them? ::)

Rain has kept me away for a few days. Called in to check that the weeds were growing nicely - one fine day at some point in the distant future I may get back to continue the battle. (Little bit down over the weather !!)

Did see that a couple of courgettes are appearing, collected some broad beans for tea and that was that for one day.

Chatted with association bods and the council re the plot, the site. the weather etc. Then gave the strawberry bed a final light hoeing but had second thoughts about planting them out as it was so wet. Tried to dig a hole for a post and spent more time scraping the clay off the spade than actually digging so gave up and came home.

quick trip to my other half plot today, weeds are growing there too but not as bad as the other, weeded the potatoes, dug up the remaining garlic, dug around a bit in the potato patch where there should have been plants and managed to get a kilo or two of potatoes from where plants should have been. picked a few alpine strawberries then came home.

Here in the sunny south where it's been raining fairly constantly keeping the water off is almost as much as a priority as keeping things watered.

We've one plot holder who seems to think that you even need to water when it's raining.

Quick early hour at the plot, more weeding, nearly finished clearing the peas, then just the leeks left and the unplanted beds to weed again.

When the rain stopped last night I had a stroll round to inspect the reluctant veggies.

Within 24 hours a whole patch of early potatoes looked as though they had been attacked by weedkiller. The foliage was all shrivelled and white. Any ideas anyone?
