Applied the nematodes to the raised beds.  Tied up the peas, which were swaying in the wind.  Did a bit of weeding.  Picked scapes from Music garlic, they look as if they will be ready soon.  The Early Purple Wight has some rust, hope it will be OK.

Will need to sow more courgettes, cucumber and squash, all devastated by slugs.

Had a furtle of the potatoes, and nothing there at all to speak of, even though 1st and 2nd earlies planted on 1st April.  Beans look terrible too.

Ditto AnneB in that no potatoes and the beans (French and runner) are no where near as good as last year.
Wish I hadn't been so hasty in eating all the veg from the freezer thinking there would be loads to replace it with.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Weeded, made a bed for our chilli and marigolds. Harvested a few strawberries and pulled a few red onions for lunch tomorrow. Fretted about the potatoes and came home depressed. Sigh!

I managed to get all my tomato plants potted up outside yesterday, and sowed some more french beans. All my carrots have disapeared so need to re-sow them (hope its not too late). Need to get the strimmer working to clear the paths!

went down my other half plot today, picked strawberries, a few artichokes and pulled a couple of garlic for the wife to cook with this evening.
spent an hour weeding the onions, then came home as it was getting very hot.

Lifted my garlic, maybe too soon in hindsight but covered in rust and need the space. They are a decent size so ok. Watered everything, especially containers, as we've had several days of no rain and hotter temps. Planted out some beetroot sown in modules. Hoed a couple of rows. Picked strawberries, peas, some sage for the fluffs and one or two assorted raspberries and redcurrants.

Lifted the last of the garlic - rust has stopped them growing any bigger. Picked more strawberries, broad beans.

Planted more courgette plants where the garlic came out. Put in another outdoor cucumber plants (the slugs had the last one).

I had to stay home today to weed the garden and cut the grass.
Did not dare leave it another day it may rain.
Watered all the tubs and found that my honeysuckle has some form of mildew it has appeared overnight.
I have more flowers on the begonias than green leaf they just love the rain soaked boarders they have been in for three weeks now and other than when first planted they have not needed to be watered.

After falling headlong into the greenhouse yesterday, as I over-balanced  while moving a thicker than average 2 foot square paving stone, I thought I'd take it easy and let the bruises and gashes heal.

So.....today I raked the soil level, put the paving stone path back in place, replaced the some of the missing panes and planted up with tomatoes (ready & waiting in 12" pots), sweet peppers and two courgettes as it's too flipping cold & wet for mine to grow outside.

I am so pleased to have this job sorted. The greenhouse was a jungle of bramble and mares tail - impossible to walk in through the door when we took it over. It took an age to dig out the brambles and tackle the mare stail but it's useable at last.

Wow! Paul you have done some work there! It is so satisfying to see what you have accomplished - and all the more so when it was really bad to start with! You must be so pleased. What a lovely, tidy greenhouse you now have (says she rather enviously! Mine is so full and chaotic doing anything at all requires the flexibility of a yoga master!) :)
