We have now marked out and dug another bed and planted Butternut squash, one trapaulin has been removed and we are half way there, I wanted to go up yesterday but was ill and the same today, its rained for the last two days as well so luckily I didn't have to go and water anything,I am working tomorrow so won't be able to go then either :( but will hopefully get there on Friday, our spuds have taken off and the onions we planted late seem to be growing, in fact everything seems to be growing :D so hopefully we will have some results. I also had a mamoth weeding session last time I went up as the weeds had gone crazy in all the rain we have had

Weeding, weeding and more weeding yesterday.  All day.  The weeds are certainly thriving in this changeable weather.

On the plus side, my 12-year old son is trying to save up enough money to buy a playstation and is constantly on the look-out for money-making ventures so I gave him a 5l plant pot and offered to pay him for each time he filled it with weeds.  We settled on 3 pots of weeds for £1.  I was £5 lighter but the plot looks amazing!  :D
No matter how many plants I have in my garden, I can always find room for one more.

You should hire your son our GYO Girl, in the same way that car washing used to be a way for youngsters to make money  :D :D

We planted up two large pots with pelargoniums and petunias last night, to brighten up the area where Mr Sunny is making a seating area (lunch eating spot tbh  )

Just the windbreak to put up now

(Put the pots in the mini tunnel out of the weather, as the forecast is dire)

We braved the rain to remove 4 carloads of rubbish from the new plot and take to the dump.

Dedicated or mad???  A thin line me thinks

Tied my peas up some more in preparation for these gales we're supposed to be getting!

Lifted a couple of the smaller garlic plants to see how they are getting on.

A little bit of digging in the rain.... before the heavy stuff arrived.

In the evening a dash about putting everything that wasn't screwed down or planted under cover to save it from the wind.

Pretty gusty here right now!!

I checked everything was secure in the high winds this morning, added some flattened cardboard onto one of the lasagne beds on the new plot, topped it with grass clippings, secured my neighbours shed door that was flapping about (bolt ripped out of the wood), picked a few strawbs and herbs, then sorted through my junk pile and retrieved some guttering for my shed at home.

Site was almost deserted thanks to the high winds!

Looked in dismay at  our lovely rose arch which is lying flat.  :(

I hope the stems are not damaged too badly. Going back later with Mr Sunny and some fencing pins to try to sort it out. Got the water proofs ready

Sorry to hear about the rose arch Sunny  :(

I planted a few Swiss Chard in the new kitchen garden as my parents insist they like it and I had some growing in pots just in case.  ;)

Managed to get the arch back upright, with four fence pins a foot or so in the ground and cable-tied to the legs, plus two guys to make sure it stays where it should be

Roses seem none the worse for wear, thank goodness  :D :D :D

Took us an hour though

How much are you paying the guys to stand there all night?

Seriously: Pleased to hear the roses have survived.  :)
