richrua, I haven't planted the Lidl carrots on tape, but have used the gherkins and dill tape which was very successful if that helps(?)

Rain has dictated my activities today.  I have been sowing and potting on like mad - tomatoes galore, autumn broccoli, pumpkins, courgettes, squashes, chillis, aubergines, kale, cabbages, cauli, french beans.  All now nestled in my conservatory (ones needing more tlc) and greenhouse (bigger boys).  I have now run out of potting compost, so need to venture to the garden centre for some more (the thought of lifting wet bags of compost has put me off so I might wait for my hubby to help out!)

Sure does. Must be good quality so! I was wondering if the carrots would need to be thinned or are they spaced ok..... I suppose i will see when they come up

Had a weeding day today.
Weeded the central path that devides my plot into 2 sections - full of dandelions (minus the flower heads ;) ) and creeping buttercup!
Laid weedproof membrane down on the path so my other half can work out how he's going to build up the lower side so it doesn't slope into my beds.

He doesn't know he's going to do this yet! :tongue2:

Built the bean wigwams for when I'm ready to plant the beans next month.
Unless of course we have the coldest May for 100 years as the Daily Express seems to know ::)

Well, I managed a little weeding - but it was so wet and muddy my fingers in my gloves were all stuck together like one big mud mitten and I couldn't get the weeds off my fingers! Eventually I conceded defeat and gave up. Seriously annoyed as i had lots to do. Did manage to plant my onions (a bit late I know) and repotted some broad beans. But disappointed as I could have done so much more if it would just stop raining for a bit!

Went to the plot to check it wasn't washed away  Saw that the plot I gave up was under water at the far end so I'm pleased with my decision to swap to the one next to my other one.
Back in the garden I continued washing plant pots, only another few hundred to do.

Well the plot has been somewhat red flagged...

However went up to water my pumpkins in the greenhouse and untied water butts into other butts to collect as much water as possible (as we don't have a water supply).
Everything spotty....

It's a bit of a trial cleaning plant pots but worth it in the long run!
My kitchen was full of clean plantpots back in February :)

Popped in to the plot after work just for a look armed with a golf umbrella because it was pouring down, only one other car in the car park he was pottering in his greenhouse, my parsnips got the better of me I sowed 3 weeks ago at the end of the warm spell we had and marked the last group of 3 seeds with a twig had a root around and sure enough they've germinated just not poking there heads out yet I knew they would have just impatience getting the better of me.

Planted out another batch of peas. And managed to avoid a very heavy rain/hail shower :)

Arrived back from shopping, put it away, put the washing out, had a late lunch, nattered to my parents and wandered into their new garden across the road with a wheel-barrow....

A wet lawn makes sinking stepping stones so much easier.  ;)
