Today we sowed carrots, leeks, parsnips, lettuce, spring onions, peas, salad leaves and radishes.

Got rid of all the rubbish off the top of the compost bin and found some fab compost underneath.
Took advantage of the delivery of free council compost and sieved a few barrow loads.

Discovered that my 4 day old wheelbarrow has a big slit in the tyre already.

Weeded, watered (water turned on yesterday) and drunk lots of tea.  Noticed my first sowing of carrots & beetroot have made their first signs of life too.  Spent all of yesterday putting up staging in the greenhouse and moving the power socket.  New socket installed for large heated propagator, go chillies go  :D

Had another all dayer today..

Planted last 3 rows spuds.. still got a wide row of PFA to do in a few weeks.

Planted my peas from my drain pipes that I started in the GH.. not too easy to remove - I think my soil was too moist and reckon if it was semi dry it would just pour out easily??

Gave away to to plot neighbour all the broken flags that I had dug up and collected around the plot..

Flagged the side of the shed and tidied up the adjacent storage area..  Also flagged the path to the compost bay.. 2 long fence panels came in really handy for this..

Manured half the last side ready to dig..  Watered the onions, strawbs, garlic and broadies. Also sprinkled wood ash over my onions.

Now I deserve a rest...

Put new roof on hens run last week & planted 15 rows of spuds.
Also planted leeks, Savoy cabbages & turnips in the greenhouse.
Lots of weeding around the Raspberries, Blackberries & Tayberries.

Today I planted 4 rows of peas
Sweetcorn on the windows sill in bedroom which I got moaned at by the other half
More cabbages planted & also some Radishes
Introduced 2 new hens to my others

Then sat in the sun -  8)

Quieter day today, just finished off the cover of a raised bed and sowed more Hispi Cabbage and The Sutton Broad Beans.
Had a chat to my plot neighbour, then went home to read the newspapers.

Sowed two pints of Early Onwards and carrots in a raised bed on Plot6B.
On plot 20 I started to prepare a seed bed for sowings of Parsnip later this month.
Cut the paths on both plots and weeded.

A long day again  :D

Mr Sunny finished replacing the rest of the fruit cage base struts - looks great, just needs the mesh now - and dug out all the couch from the flwoer bed that spans the front of the plot inside, while I weeded the section outside the fence on our verge. Transplanted six lavender bushes, which will look brilliant when they are all in flower later in the year. Also planted out some foxgloves and forget-me nots.

I weeded all around the greenhouse, cut back the sage, dug out nettles and planted two lots of sweetpeas.

We went down to the plot with the intentions of preparing the beds for next weeks potato plantings, but we dug up the last 18lb of carrots and 2lb of parsnips (carrot soup anyone!). Then harvested the last of the baby leeks (around 40ish, leek quiche anyone!) grabbed the last celeriac's before the slugs got them. The spinach looks good but didn't fancy it for tea tonight, but we did bring home a good amount of PSB.

Were disappointed that our brussels have now had it, so the chickens have brussels for tea for the next week...
We took home a few rhubarb stem for a crumble in the week and the last couple of daffs for a vase.

Radish and lettuce are up in the polytunnel, strawberries are flowering! broad beans have settled in nicely. Watered the garlic as the outer leaves look a little yellow, they might need a feed soon.

Back at home, in the cold frame, the broccoli, cabbage, romanescu, sweetpeas, statice, cosmos, celeriac, pak choi and tegettes ar eall up and doing well. Meanwhile on the dining table, the tomatoes, basil and chillis are all up and leaning towards the window!

Its not just my missus then  :tongue2:

I never got to the plot this weekend after doing some more decorating but today I have managed to get some toms (roma & beef), courgettes & aubergines sown in propagators which are now residing on the sideboard in the dining room which I have had my ear well chewed off about (and again  :tongue2:)

Cleared half of the plot of couch grass that was bare ready for planting. Earthed up the spuds, weeded around the rhubard patch, edged the plot. Then dug and raked, dug and raked, then sowed two rows of beetroot.

Worried now about this weeks weather reports of snow and the overnight minus temps!!!!!

Aiming to sow Broad Beans(little late!!), carrots and parsnips over the next week. And try to find time to clear the shed rubbish out as i cant walk in there!!

Hope everyone had a good day on the plot today - glorious weather here in hereford.
