Put some old corrugated roofing on top of weed compost heap,to direct rainwater into baths

below.

Hoed and raked some of the beds.

Made watering seep hoses for fruit trees, from lengths of old garden hose and 6 pint milk cartons.

Tackled the mass of weeds, overgrown and half-dead herbs (including chives, in fact about three times as many as I orginally remember sowing many years ago!) that is my herb border.

Trimmed, layered, took cuttings, put the chives back in their place, and sprinkled a bit of dried chicken poo around (although they mostly appreciate my dry sandy soil even herbs like some food from time to time.)  :)

After reading the recent French Tarragon thread I've made room for one (now all I've got to do is find one!)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Had a whole day of sun, planted Rocket and Pentland Javelin, tidied Strawberry beds, moved compost heaps, put some on beds and organised the bits left. Looks more like an allotment than a field now  :)

On the plot - not a lot...

But I did sow Sun Gold, bambino and Gardener's Delight tomato seeds.
It's a start.  :)

Yesterday when I finally got to the plot I weeded around the autumn garlic & onions. I was going to respray the new plot but it was surprisingly windy & didn't think my neighbour would thank me.

I phoned the council to ask where the key to my allotment is (supposed to be posting out to me) that's as much as I can do on the plot  :tongue2:

I have potted on some tomato seedlings (Moneymaker) and sown some early peas at home

Planted my Onion sets and Shallots this morning - wonderful weather here in Maidstone  :)

On Saturday, amongst other things, sowed some Padron Chilli seeds indoors - All 15 seedlings up by yesterday morning, must have had ideal germination conditions
Paul, Andrew, Kevin, Galen - My parents got bored of normal names in the end!

I planted 100 centurion onion sets.

Tidied up a bit.

Surprisingly, I also weeded - plenty of weed seeds germinating now......... warmish soil.

So back to weed weed weed weed then !

Today I mostly riddled soil from a 3 year old heap of upturned grass sods that I inherited with my plot. It looks like good soil and is ideal for filling up the raised beds...I also barrowed a few loads of rotted chicken pooh to go with it and spread out some council supplied woodchips on the paths....looks a lot better but still loads to do... (note to self) must make a diary soon.
