The tap on one of my water butts was loose so I thought the plastic nut must have somehow come unscrewed over the years.

Summoned every bucket and watering can I possess to save the precious water, then discovered the nut had split, so a nice unscheduled trip to Been&Q'd ensued. To be fair, 2 nice shiny new 3/4" BSP brass nuts cost just £1.29 - an unusual bargain from there.

Quite tricky tightening the nut inside whilst simultaneously trying to stop the tap from turning outside (amazing how impressive Anglo-Saxon language sounds when one's head is stuffed inside a water butt!)
Luckily the orangutan arms were just long enough!  :)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

Levelled off the area for flower beds, raked, and removed loads of stones.

Put more stones down the sides of the raised beds to make paths.

In the garden:
Potted on 170 geraniums, and a dozen brassicas then made an awful racket in the greenhouse digging out the staging to put in the small one.

Finished off the afternoon chopping / sawing back the pyracantha and trundling the prunings off for yet another bonfire heap.  ::)

More digging to remove the grass from the undug plot,  levelled the onion bed for set planting tomorrow.
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

Got a bit giddy this weekend.......

Sowed 100 or so mangetout and 100 or so peas
Sowed 24 calbrese
sowed 24 cauliflower
sowed some lollo rossa and little gem lettuce
planted about 100 white onions
planted about 30 shallots
tidied around the raspberries and strawberries
Dug the last of the two beds at the allotment so all have been dug over once and half has been dug over twice

ready for a rest now tonight!!

Its official - I have manure!!  42 big bags of it.  Took 3 people 4 hours to bag it and move it to our plots.  Its REALLY good too,  2 yrs old.  The good news is we only took half the pile which and we are welcome to the other half and there are 2 other piles of various vintages!

got home in time for Rugby too and what a game!!!!!!

I am starting to win the battle of the roses!  I have dug half the allotment and planted my potatoes out today.  Very happy as my garlic has started growing, wasn't a hint last week thought they were a no go as I planted them out late.  Feels nice to get something in!

Came home and planted many variety of seeds:

Pea Jaguar
Borlotto Beans
Sweetcorn Mirai
Courgette Best of British and Zucchini
Spring Onion white lisbon
Butternut squash - butterboy and harrier, plus unknown variety my mom gave me!
Artichoke Green Globe
Leek Portobello, autumn giant
Mixed purple sprouting
Celery Octavius
Pepper Californian Wonder
Brocolli Ironman
Cauliflower Regata, Veronica
Aubergine, moneymaker
Cucumber, marketmore
Broadbeans

Phew!  Lovely day today!

As you've not put your your location in your profile, I'm making the rash assumption that you're in the UK and your climate is something like mine.

I'd say that you're very early with the following:

Phew!  Lovely day today!

None of these plants can go outdoors until after the last frosts. It will be at least a month, before I think about sowing those. The peppers will be OK if you have a greenhouse.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I'm actually just round the corner from you, in Leicester!  I got a bit carried away with the seeds (excited that I am almost ready to plant!) hopefully they will be okay...I have them all on various windowsills as I don't have a greenhouse...

You may have a problem, I would probably not plant these outside for nearly another 3 months.

I only used about half of each seed packet so it's not the end of the world if it doesn't go to plan! Here's hoping for a very warm spring...
