Planted my cherry, peach and plum trees today.
The first things I've planted in my allotment :D
Had to put up a temporary fence so next doors goats don't eat them!

That's some posh heavy fence you have there!!  8)

Planted early potatoes Vanessa and Winston, my own saved shallots and some broad beans I found loose in a tin, unknown variety.

Harvested carrots and parsnips, both now showing signs of growth, also purple sprouting and the first sprout greens. I never picked a single sprout off my plants, but I find the greens tastier.
I`m left handed, what`s your excuse?

sowed radish with my two year old, took delivery of 25 fencing posts + 2 thrown in for free, and managed to Identify the tree I planted yesterday as a plum.

got to one of the plots today and in a 1 1/2 hour stint got a first level rotovate in, the soil will be rotovated again in a week or so in a different direction, then a deep rotovate done and rake to give a fine tilth for planting, just before I plant, still got the other plot, and thats a good 1/4 mile walk to the plot from the parking area, anyhow, pleased that I have started, I have a whole bunch of potatoes ready to plant soon.

Fixed a loose boundary upright with a bit of dexion.
Moved a great pile of soil from where I stacked the grass & weeds in the first year, it's lovely stuff now :)
Dug the 8 x 5ft bed that it was on and raked it over, took out a load of grass that was spreading in from the path.
Had a sit and a stubby in the sun, then dug a bit more until my back said 'enufs enuf'.

Such a beautiful day  8)

Played Vivaldi and soaked up the sun whilst tidying out the greenhouse.

Picked up 2x B&Q 125l general compost and 6 Tomorite grow bags for tom's peppers & chilli's.  Humped these down the hill and then up the hill to my plot.  Very hot work in this weather.

Planted up some dahlia's I snagged for free and popped a couple of 'snow white' echinacea into a pot as they were coming into leaf in the packaging.  Will pop outside once I decide where they will live.

Decided to paint new bramble growth with something nasty as I cant be digging them out all year again

Another two hours of digging getting the grass off our new plot while my wife turned it over in the bed we're having for onions that will be planted next week
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

Spent 3 hours on the plot this afternoon. It's still quite wet but we've had so much rain compared with the Midlands and the South of England, and more expected tomorrow according to the forecast.

Anyway, dug over and raked one of the raised beds and removed more couch grass. Would like to say I've removed all the couch grass but I doubt it!!  Then attached the debris netting over the hoops, so the bed is now ready for planting.

Removed yet more carpet from the path between mine and my neighbours plot.  Another trip to the tip at weekend.

Pea/bean frame now in position.

Put canes and pea netting up ready for sweet peas.

And finally, sat in the sunshine with a cup of coffee.  :)

had 3 hours on the plots today in glorious sunshine   lovely.
finished turning the manure in on one of the potato plots, planted a double row of early peas and covered them with netting sat in the sun and ate my lunch then sieved the soil where i am going to sow carrots and covered it with netting to stop the local cats using it as a toilet ( i am determined to have good carrots this year, lost most of them to carrot fly last year ) so have ordered veggiemesh.  sowed short rows of spring onions, radish, and rosso lettuce
