I grew runner beans last year on a Monty frame.
Can I grow them there again this year? I don't really want to have to move/dismantle the frame unless I have to.
Thanks

I grow beans in the same place each year.
I just dig a trench and renew each year.

I think they come in that category where you can have a near permanent bed. Many folk at my site seem to have very elaborate structures (metal posts) that don't move around.

i use a perm frame and trench for mine - plus i leave a number from last year - to come again / self seed

Runner beans are not popular here, and grown only by a few for the flowers.
I'll be planting some this year for the beans and wonder which has the beter flavour - Scarlett or Painted Lady runners? I have room for only 1 variety.

Yes, there is no real need to move them if you don't want to. Dig out your trench and add loads of organic material, before filling in and planting.

Are those the two varieties you can get Trillium ?
Painted lady have an excellent fravour, the pods are quite short.
I think scarlet runner is just an old name for runner bean.
White Lady is one of my favourite and Polestar is an old favourite too

I grow Sunset Improved. Nice flavour, and the most beautiful pale pink flowers you ever did see. :D
-
I think Painted Lady is the variety name in our catalogue. The other variety available here is just Sunset (aside from plain old Scarlett).

Is it permissable to post any to you Trillium. Would there be a customs problem :?:
-
As long as you weren't sending several dozen pounds of them  I think a few would be okay. I've posted to the UK and had some posted to me from the UK with no problems before.
They'd be much appreciated Aunt Sally.

PM me your address and I'll post you some :D
