You've inspired me to show you a picture from my window muntjac (in another thread thread).

The chooks have the netted off space and the shrub bed at the far end ( they dig like JCBs).  They're in their chook shelter buy the shed at the moment as it's peeing down.  We've made the fences as high as possible with trellis, but they can still get over the 6 ft wall on the right

Hi Again, well the book has arrived and its 'Starting With Chickens' by Katie Thear.  So far its great, really good for someone like me who knows nothing!  AuntSally, your garden looks lovely and tidy!  Mine is a mess - we are no gardeners And Muntjac yours is a lovely place for chickens to live! I have shrubs down the side amidst some trees, down the middle is a lawn but its unkempt, we just keep it trim.  Now I've been reading up on the whole subject, I am not sure that the shed I planned to keep them in is going to be good enough.  Its in the far left corner of the garden and my garden slopes slightly that way which means in the event of really heavy rain the ground around it gets waterlogged. I think for me the best would be something I could move around but they are very expensive to buy.  I wish there was some way I could pick up the existing shed and move it somewhere else, and I'm going to look into it.  My husband is not interested so I'm on my own as far as all this is concerned. !!!

Sheds are quite easy to move (so long as there not fastened to anything else. You need something to use as rollers, like lengths of drainpipe, about 4 will do, and a pole as a lever, lever up the corner and push the pipe under, same at other corner, then roll shed on pipe, put next pipe under etc, each time the pipe rolls out the back move it to the front and keep rolling!

Better to make use of what you have if you can to save money

rather than move the shed . raise it up by about a foot on breeze blocks . . be ready to put down a reall thick layer of mulch ( you can usually get it free from councils park depts/ when you build your pen make up the hieght with more breeze blocks . then just fill the pen up with the mulch the chucks will love it
