DEEP ROOT TREE STUMP + WEEDKILLER
« on: March 17, 2007, 21:18 »
I have finally found the patch I am going to use.

It is small, 1/4 circle shaped and overgrown grass with neglected shrubs around the border.  I was planning on using round up to kill the grass + weeds and then to rotavate it.

I have found a box of 'deep root tree stump and weedkiller' in the cupboard, says it can be used to clear unwanted vegetation, stumps, laurel, rhododendron + hawthorn

Biodegradable - kills above and below the ground

treated areas can be cultivated in 3-4 weeks and planted in 8-12

Would this work or should I shell out for some round up?

The grass is thatched badly as it hasnt been mowed in 2 years!  should I strim the top vegetation or just kill everything and then rotavate everything back in the soil.  I will be having raised beds.
Avoid fruit and nuts.  You are what you eat.

the stump killer is for use on woody  growth and is an acid and paraquat compound . it wont werk on grasses other than scorch them .there used to be a product called brushwood killer .with a a paraquat base you have to be real careful as some does burn the skin .use it to kill brambles and other woody stuff  but be careful .i would better suggest you dig up tree materials and not use it if you do SAFETY  is the key word here .

8 - 12 weeks will take you into mid may/june.
So roundup will be quicker as it only takes about 2 weeks or so to work and only kills what it touches and moves to the roots through the leaves.

Deep....... I believe contains Ammonium Sulphate which kills all veg life in the ground, and then breaks down in the soil, but until it breaks down it remains active hence the long wait.
